DVD Players Vs VHS Players

DVD players provide a lot more advantages than any VHS players will ever have. Most consumers have been reluctant to make the jump from VHS to DVD, even though there are clear advantages DVDs will give them. With newer and more advanced models being developed, the basic DVD players are becoming more affordable than ever. One advantage would be the amount of space you save from using a DVD player. The DVDs are clearly more space friendly compared to VHS tapes. With being size friendly it also means DVDs will be much lighter to transport around compared to VHS tapes. There is clearly more advantages DVDs bring over VHS tapes.

DVD players do provide better picture quality. VHS tapes will never ever be able to provide the same type of picture quality as DVDs provide. Even if a DVD has been around for a couple of years compared to a VHS tape played for the first time will still not have a better picture. While DVD picture quality will never deteriorate, that is not the case for VHS tapes. The quality of the VHS tapes will begin to deteriorate as time past by, making either the quality of the picture really bad or worth not viewable at all. Not only is the picture quality better but also the sound quality of the movie you are viewing will be better too. Most DVD movies are equipped with Dolby Digital or DTS sound. These two technologies actually provide you with sound quality almost equivalent to the movie theater ones. VHS tapes were never capable or providing sound quality close to the movie theater ones we hear.

Are you tired of trying to either fast forward or rewind to parts of a movie or concert with your VHS tapes? Well those days are over with a DVD player. Instead most DVDs include on-screen index, which are the most significant scenes of movies or concerts so users can easily select those scenes to watch at the beginning without the hassle of fast forwarding to it. Most of the time the scene selection menu will include a picture or a quick video clip of the scene to allow users to easily recognize the scenes. If the DVDs do not have a on-screen index, it will still be faster to find the scene you want on DVD then on VHS tapes. Since VHS players can only fast forward and rewind at a mono speed, or else the tapes will either be ruined from tearing. DVD players allow users to scan the DVDs from speeds of 2x to all the way up to 32x.

DVD players can be a multi purpose device. DVD players are not limited to only playing

DVDs but more formats than any devices for entertainment. DVD players care capable of playing movies in the format of VCD. VCDs are video compact discs, which usually stores movies in two parts since the size of the CD is not capable of holding the whole movie in one disc. A movie being held in VCD format may also be in 3 or more CDs, depending on the length of the movie. DVD players can also play audio CDs. This shows the flexibility of the DVD players compared to other devices such as a CD player, or VCD player. You can easily only buy a DVD player and get both of the features a CD player and VCD player offers with the obvious ability to play DVDs too.

Widescreen televisions are becoming very popular and can be spotted in households very often. VHS movies will never be able to adjust its picture format to a letterbox format, because it is just impossible. Which means parts of your widescreens will be wasted and blank since picture format will not be using those spaces. While DVD movies are being produced in widescreen formats and standard TV size format as well. This allows consumers to choose which format they want depending on what TV they own. And features of both formats on DVD movies are becoming more and more popular, so you can have both formats in one DVD all you have to do is pick the format you want to view it at.

Ever want to watch a foreign movie but you’re afraid you won’t understand what is going on? Well VHS movies will never allow you to put on subtitles to read along so you can follow but DVDs will. DVDs are equipped with subtitles options in a variety of languages so not just people that speak the original language of the movie can understand it. If you have either a friend that talks a lot during movies or just a noisy environment, the subtitle feature will allow you to read the parts you can’t hear. DVD movies does not only offer subtitles, but it can also include sever soundtracks. This means you can easily change the original soundtrack to a language you know. For example Chinese audio soundtrack can be easily changed to a English audio soundtrack on a DVD.
