Little Shop of Horrors Movie Review - Starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin

"Little Shop of Horrors" is a funny musical horror film about a man-eating plant from outer space. The film stars Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, Vincent Gardenia, Steve Martin and Jim Belushi and features Levi Stubbs as the voice of Audrey II, the plant.

The movie takes place in the slums of a large city in the early 1960s. Seymour Krelborne (Moranis) and Audrey (Greene) work at a plant shop for an older man named Mushnik (Gardenia). Business is doing very badly until following a total eclipse, Seymour finds a very unusual plant in Chinatown, which he buys and decides to display at Mushnik's shop. Once visitors see the plant, they become quite intrigued by it and start buying dozens of flowers.

Seymour soon learns that the plant, which he names Audrey II, requires blood to grow, so he starts pricking his fingers and feeding the plant with his blood. Audrey II eventually grows into a human-sized monster of a plant and begins talking. The plant tells Seymour that it needs to eat a human body, which means Seymour needs to kill someone. After some deliberation, Seymour decides to kill Audrey's sadistic boyfriend Orin Scrivello (Martin), a crazy dentist who abuses her. Seymour visits Orin in his office, where Orin becomes asphyxiated with a tank of laughing gas which he can't remove. Seymour takes home Orin's body and cuts it up for Audrey II.

With Orin out of the way, Audrey falls in love with Seymour. But now Mushnik smells something fishy when he discovers evidence of foul play on Seymour's part. As a result, Seymour is forced to kill Mushnik as well and feed him to Audrey II.

Things get really out of hand when Audrey II goes after Audrey. Seymour manages to rescue her. But then he gets a visit from a businessman named Patrick Martin (Belushi) who proposes cutting up pieces of Audrey II and selling them around the world. Seymour learns that this was Audrey II's plan all along at world domination. Seymour battles it out with Audrey II, finally defeating him by electrocution, then he lives happily ever after with Audrey "somewhere that's green".
