9 of the Best Places To See In Indiana

Indiana has some amazing destinations to see. In fact there are hundreds of attractions just waiting for you discover. However nine have achieved special recognition. So when you travel to Indiana next time be sure to take all in all nine.

University of Notre Dame encompasses over 1250 acres. As you enter you are suddenly transported to an ancient European city. You’ve reached the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Church. Incredible! In 1870 the construction began near the banks of the St. Joseph Rivers. This is one of the most beautiful campuses in all of the United States and the church is definitely an integral part of it. It’s located in South Bend Indiana. Be sure to take a tour! You’ll be impressed!

Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari is located in Santa Clause Indiana. Amusement Today has voted this destination as the “world’s friendliest park” for five years running. If you love rides you’ve got to check out the Zinga. It’s an 8 story tall ride that uses four person tubes that plunge through a dark 9 foot wide tunnel then ending in a huge pink and blue funnel. Amazing. It’s wacky and it’s a lot of fun. And it’s just one of the many zany rides at this amusement and water park!

In Anderson Indian you’ll find the Paramount Theater which opened in August of 1929 under great fanfare. For 60 years some of the world’s most well known artists performed. Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong were both regular performers. In 1989 it had a 16th century Spanish restoration. It’s simply amazing to watch any performance in this venue. Go see for yourself!

The Ohio River National Scenic Byway runs from Greendale Indiana to Mount Vernon. It’s a total of 302 picturesque miles that incorporate rivers, vistas, and vineyards, as well has historic towns and forts, fossil bed, and caves. Don’t forget to stop and climb the hills to Clifty Falls. And if you’re feeling lucky then hop on one of the riverboats gaming boats.

The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is found in Chesterton Indiana. Here you’ll find 200 feet tall sand dunes and a 25 mile beach that one of the longest on the planet. Be sure to take in the forest area with its unique desert plants. It’s an outdoor adventure that the whole family will enjoy. Breathtakingly beautiful!

In French Lick Indiana you’ll find West Baden Springs. In 1902 a domed castle was built that stood 100 feet above the hills. It was enormous! For years movie stars and powerful gangsters made this castle a vacation destination. But when the stock market crashed in 1934 it was sold to the Jesuit Monks for a whopping one dollar price tag. It has been restored and is now called West Baden Springs. It is now open to the public and considered the 8th wonder of the world. You’ve just got to see it!

Be sure to stop by Indianapolis and visit Monumental Circle. It was built in the late 1800s to honor the lives lost at war. It’s a huge sculpture with flowering fountains and it’s almost 350 feet in diameter. Breathtaking to view!

Blue Spring Caverns are in Bedford Indiana. Here you’’ find miles of awesome limestone caverns and the worlds largest underground river. Back in the 1940s a large pond was constructed so that the White River would overflow into it. During heavy rains it disappeared completely leaving the caverns revealed. It’s a phenomenal natural structure!

Stop by Marshal Indiana to see the Turkey Run State Park. The deep canyons and ravines are absolutely breathtaking. There a result of glaciers that melted millions of years ago. You won’t believe your eyes!
