Hypnosis, a new trend

The main factor why medications are used during pregnancy is because of the pain. Growing up we have perceived that childbirth is a very painful process. You might remember Hollywood movies depicting a mother screaming in pain as she gives birth to her child.

The fact is pain threshold is different to every individual. In others it can be very low which makes them fragile. In others it can be high – take a look at tattoo artists or enthusiasts, and people who undergo body piercing.

Mothers will be able to recover faster since they don't have to wait for the anesthesia to wear off. The baby will be fully alert and awake when delivered. They can be easily breastfed after the delivery. It also avoids unnecessary medical interventions.

Elective cesarean sections had become popular because it's a quick process of childbirth. Unfortunately the complications emerge after the operation.

When we think of hypnosis we picture a pendant dangling from a necklace swayed back in forth as depicted in movies. Hypnosis used during childbirth is totally different. There are classes held by doctors to teach mother's how to do it. Books, audio tapes and one on one session are also available to teach the mother.

The mother can then use self-hypnosis during childbirth. This also encourages the participation of the husband or the partner in the process of childbirth. Along with the doula they can help the mother through the delivery.

In some cases a medical intervention is necessary for high risk pregnancies. For mothers who are in a healthy condition they can choose to have a safer and calmer childbirth. Babies born with hypnosis have become a new trend that will most likely stay. To give your child a healthier start in life a natural childbirth can be a good option. We just have to let nature take its course. Women's bodies are made for childbirth, so why not use it?
