Famous Palaces in London

London is a beautiful place to live and visit. Each year a large number of individuals and families travel to London for a business trip or a family vacation. Whatever their reason for traveling a large number of individuals stop by and view a number of the famous palaces located in or around the London area.

The Tower of London is a famous and historic palace in England. There is a lot of history that surrounds the Tower of London. This historic place is where a number of English queens were executed and where the Crown Jewels are located. With the Tower of London once serving as a prison, an execution ground, a jewel house, and a royal palace there is a lot of history that can be viewed by visiting the Tower of London.

The Tower of London is open to the general public. There are organized tours for the whole family or individuals can go off on their own to explore the tower. Admission prices for each individual varies depending on the time of the visit and the age of the visitor; however, it is typically a cheap admission price that is well worth it.

Kensington Palace is another famous royal palace located in the London area. Kensington Palace was home to a number of famous kings and queens beginning in the late 1600’s. What is interesting about the Kensington Palace is that there are still some royal family members living in a portion of the palace today.

Aside from the sections of the palace that currently have royal live-in residents the rest of the palace is open to the general public. Tours of the palace are great for individuals or families who would love to learn more about the history of the royal families of England. Kensington Palace tours typically last around two hours.

Kew Palace was home to a George III. In addition to the Kew Palace, the cottage of Queen Charlotte is located nearby. The Kew Palace and the cottage are great tourist attractions in the area. At this time they are both closed for restoration; however, both are slated to reopen to the public in spring of 2006.

The Hampton Court Palace is a magical and historical wonder. For about two hundred years the palace was used for political and historical reasons. The Hampton Court Palace is situated on over sixty acres of beautiful land with a riverside garden and a famous maze. Visitors can tour the large establishment with a number of different guided tours.

All of the above mentioned palaces are extremely important in the history and development of England. All of these beautiful places can be viewed in person or from internet tours. One look and the majority of these tours will leave you breathless.
