What is LED Lighting?

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. They are very tiny little light emitting electronics that are extremely efficient and long lasting. They have been used for a long time to illuminate the numbers in an alarm clock, or for use in remote controls. Each LED light is about the size of a pencil eraser. Used together, LED lights are replacing incandescent bulbs in a multitude of uses.

Why is LED Lighting Better?

LED lighting is better than incandescent bulbs for a few reasons. One of the primary reasons is that an LED light will last much longer than incandescent bulbs, resulting in money savings. LED bulbs will last for thousands of hours which mean that even though there is a higher start up cost for installing LED's they will be cheaper in the long run because there is little need to replace the bulbs.

LED lighting is also very bright, and much brighter than incandescent bulbs. The brightness of the LED bulb is dependent on the beam angle of the bulb. The brighter the LED bulb, the narrower the beam angle is. And likewise, if you have a wider beam angle, the brightness will not be as strong. It is important to choose the bulb that suits your particular needs and applications the best.

LED lighting is very energy efficient because unlike an incandescent bulb, LED lights do not emit a large amount of heat. When incandescent bulbs emit heat, it is wasted energy unless of course you are depending on your lamp to keep you warm. Because LED lights run considerably cooler, there is much less wasted heat, which means a bulb that lasts longer and is much more energy efficient, which saves you money.

What else makes LED lighting great?

LED lights do not have the flicker that often come with fluorescent bulbs, and they are quite a bit smaller than the long, cumbersome fluorescent bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs are easily broken, and emit a light that is often thought of as 'cold' or unnatural. LED lights are impervious to heat, cold, shocks or vibrations, and there is no breakable glass which makes them very long lasting and perfect for most applications.

What Colors can I get?

LED lighting is very popular for a variety of uses in the entertaining industry. Because LED lights can be found in almost any color, they can be used in bars, nightclubs, movies, retail shops and almost any other application that you can think of. Choose from a range of colors, a rainbow of constantly changing color or one static color. There is a smooth transition between colors and no annoying flicker or choppiness.

With all of the benefits over incandescent bulbs and fluorescent bulbs, it is easy to see why LED lighting options are becoming more and more popular in the lighting industry.
