Modern Motels Offer The Comforts Of Home

Only a decade or so ago if you checked into a motel you would expect to find a bed, a bath, and a television with basic cable. However things they are a changing! Modern motels offer the comforts of home.

Motels, hotels what the heck’s the difference. Hotels generally offered more services. Indoor room access, valet, indoor swimming pool, hot tub, as well as restaurants, and often a bar.

Where as motels were more basic accommodation and usually had far fewer rooms. Two stories tall at the most with outside room access. They might have a swimming pool but often they were located outside, and they may have a restaurant on site or nearby but not always. Motels were usually considerably cheaper to stay in.

Over time the services they offer seemed to have blurred somewhat and often there isn’t a lot of difference in room price. Hotels often offer a lot of frills that not everybody wants or needs. The motel industry has decided to provide a more functional type of service. They recognize that both families and individuals that travel want a comfortable place to spend the night at a reasonable price and that they don’t necessarily care about frills but would like some of the comforts of home in their rooms.

Thus the change in the way motel rooms’ look was born. In almost all motel rooms today you’ll recognize the conveniences of home. So whether you are staying for a night, a week, or a month you can hunker down and feel quite comfortable.

Small refrigerators have been added to the rooms. These bar size fridges will hold your favorite soda, some milk, a sandwich or two and some snack food. They are extremely handy.

Drip coffee pots have also been added to the room, complete with coffee packets and cups. Now isn’t that convenient. No more running to the office for a coffee that’s strong enough to stand your spoon in, or down the road to the nearest coffee shop. On a whim whether it’s just as you awake or in the middle of the night you can have fresh coffee without leaving your room.

Some motels also offer hot plates for cooking. These basic two burner plug in stoves are great for making a basic meal like soup or macaroni and cheese. Most even have the basic utensils and pots in the room. Dishes might be optional but usually if you ask at the office they’ll be able to supply you.

If you’re going to be staying for some time and want all the conveniences then ask about a kitchen unit which will supply you with a full size fridge and stove as well as all pots, utensils, and dishes. These rooms are only a fraction more and can save you a lot of money on eating out all the time.

Many motels have also upgraded their mattresses to a higher quality mattress that provides a more comfortable nights sleep. Not so long ago if you wanted extra blankets you had to ask but now you’ll usually find them tucked in a drawer which makes it very convenient should you feel chilled. Extra pillows are usually handy as well.

You may also find a handy vanity for putting your make up on. No vanity then you’ll probably find that the lighting in the bathroom has been dramatically improved.

Motels are an affordable alternative to hotels and resorts. If you don’t care about fancy frills and are looking for a functional base so that you can spend time exploring the area while returning to your base in the evenings then you really should check out what modern motels have to offer. You’ll be quite impressed. Functionality at an affordable price!
