Outdoor Recreation In Minnesota – Come Play!

Minnesota has quite the reputation for supplying some terrific outdoor recreation. Whether it’s skiing in the winter, or hiking in the summer there’s plenty to see and do. Come play in Minnesota!

Lutsen Mountains Summer and Ski Recreational Area is one of those places. Lutsen’s four mountains sit 1000 feet above Lake Superior and offer 54 ski run. Here you’ll find the longest and tallest run in the Midwest. Take a ride on the Gondola Skyride for some spectacular views or take a ride down the Alpine Slide – what a thrill!

But wait Lutsen’s isn’t just for winter outdoor recreation it’s a perfect place to visit in the summer where you can hike the wonderful network of trails, or check out the Lutsen Mountain Bike Park.

This is an affordable destination for every age. And there’s plenty of great dining too as well as a wealth of entertainment including live music, dinner theaters, and concerts.

Spirit Mountain has a lifetime of entertainment to offer you! Here you can ski and ski and ski some more on the wide variety of runs. It even offers some fabulous night skiing. You’ll find it tucked between Lake Superior and the forested ridgeline that towers above. It’s one of the greatest suburban ski areas.

Afton Alps Recreation area is surrounded by Afton State Park on three side. It’s handy because it’s close to the city but yet it’s a beautiful rural area. Here you can ski or snowboarding, as well as the tubing park. There are 3 triple chairlifts and 15 double chairlifts that will take you up to 40 different runs from the most challenging to the most gentle.

During the summer months you can do some mountain biking, play a game of golf, or hike the numerous trails. Heck why not spend a night at one of the many accommodations or shop for some unique gear.

Croixwood is located on the St. Croix River and offers a variety of outdoor activities including biking, fishing, canoeing, golfing, and even train rides. There’s fun for everyone!

The park covers over 50,000 acres which covers Minnesota and Wisconsin. It’s home to Taylor Falls so be sure to hike up to see this breathtaking view!

Winter offers cross country skiing, hunting, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. While the summer offers rock climbing, swimming, and of course the activities mentioned earlier. Be sure to take a ride on the historic Osceola train and check out the theatre and antique shops nestled among the park. Stay for a day or stay for a month. There is so much to see and do!

Welch Village Ski and Snowboarding is a family orientate resort found in the Cannon River Valley. There are more than 46 trails that run through the forest designed for skiers and snowboarders of all levels from beginner to advanced. The elevation at the top is 1060 feet and the vertical drop is 360 feet. It’s quite the adventure. Are you up for it?

John Rose Minnesota Oval was established back in 1993. In fact it’s home to international events. It has 110,000 square feet of concrete with 81 miles of refrigeration piping and can house up to 1200 skaters at one time.

Vertical Endeavors is one of the largest climbing facilities in the US and there’s no question it’s the best! Bananaz offers 52,000 square feet of family fun with over 20 activities including of course the famous rock climbing. But there is also flight simulators, laser tag, parachute jumping, and the Velcro wall. There’s plenty to for the entire family here!
