Independent British Film Company producing next Blair Witch?

By: William Wood

An independent British Film Company based in London, UK, are producing a Feature Film on the paranormal activity at Crowley Hall. Walrus Films are a small film company that have produced short films and music videos up until now. This is their first venture into the World of Independent Feature Film Production.

The hauntings at Crowley Hall had been previously reported in the press, and brought to the attention of the company when ghost hunter Arron Kasady decided to make a documentary on the occurrences. Company director Daren Marc saw the opportunity the documentary presented, and seized the opportunity to produce and direct the film.

Scheduled for release around Halloween 2007, the film makers are going to use the internet to sell the 'The Ghosts of Crowley hall' to the World, and are taking intending on playing Hollywood at their own game. The internet presents new selling opportunities that have not yet been exploited in full by film makers.

Big Hollywood Companies possess budgets that Walrus Films cannot compete with. However, the internet levels the playing field to some degree, and gives more opportunities to the smaller independent film companies to compete with the big names.

It is possible to reach a much larger market through the internet, and grab an audience that had been previously inaccessible to these film makers. Websites are cheap to set-up, many being free, and with online advertising accessible to anybody on a small budget, it is now possible to reach a much larger audience.

Popular sites such as YouTube and MySpace are being used by the company to publish and promote their film using video clips and film trailers.

Sales through the internet and becoming the norm, particularly in entertainment such as DVD. Outlets such as Play.com and Amazon will be their shop to the World as these filmmakers sell 'The Ghosts of Crowley Hall' to anybody who wants to see it.

Will 'The Ghosts of Crowley Hall' be able to succeed and make a name for itself on the internet? Will it become buried amongst the ever increasing stream of internet video traffic? Time will show, but they are going to give it the best chance they can, and see if it is possible to get noticed in this new World of video-on-demand services and internet publishing.
