If you’re planning to do some traveling soon but can’t decide where you should visit, consider a trip to Germany. There are some great places to visit!
Berlin holds the depth and breadth of the Prussian culture and achievements. This is one of the most troubling cities yet at the same time it is fascination. It is strategically placed straddling the Spree River and it’s truly the heart of Germany. It beats to its own drum and that stoic beat can be felt in the beautiful museums, awesome theatres, and in the unique restaurants. In fact it can even be felt in the public buildings which all have a stature of grandeur. Berlin is the nation’s capital and it has undergone a lot of restoration.
It’s a perfect city for exploration on foot. You can stroll from Alexanderplatz along Unter den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate. Nearby is Kulturforum which is a serious of museums and concert halls. And to the south-east is Tiergarten which you could spend days exploring. It’s amazing city full of culture and spirit!
You must be sure to also visit Munich a bustling cosmopolitan city with elegant boulevards and a lot of dance to go with that beer. These are people who really know how to enjoy life. This city is sophisticated yet free spirited, compact but grand, with more theaters and museums than anywhere else in Germany. Oh of course there’s got to be at least a thousand beer halls, but then isn’t that what Munich is known for.
While in Munich be sure to visit the Deutshes Museum which is the largest expedition of technology and science in the world. You’ll also want to be sure to visit the Englischer Garten one of the cities largest parks complete with nude sunbathing.
You can even view the Barvarian Alps on a clear day and don’t forget to follow the road to the picturesque villages. And while you’re at it you might want to take a trip to the Dauchau Concentration Camp. Rather a sombreing experience but quite a historical stop.
Frankfurt is financial hub of western Germany. Here you’ll find a large portion of Germans wealth, and where there is wealth there is money for culture and Frankfurt is no exception. Here you’ll find some of the richest museums in the country. The Museum of Modern Art houses a magnificent collection as does the Stadel Museum which has a world class collection of the works of the Renaissance artists.
If you are looking for an evening out the music scene here is upbeat and lively and of exceptional quality with lots of pubs to visit and enjoy an entertaining evening. You must be sure to try the Ebbelwei cider Frankfurt is known for.
You can get almost anywhere in Germany from Frankfurt as there are around 1500 trains that come and go daily. So if you feel like exploring one of the bustling local universities hop a train and head to Marburg just a short distance from Frankfurt.
Be sure to take some time to visit Rhine Valley and its extraordinary scenery. Here you’ll find fertile vineyards clinging to the steep hill mixed among wine villages and castles. Quite a dramatic view! Each little village holds at least one wine festival a year, some more. After all this is wine country. You can get an exception view of the valley if you travel by boat.
Lubeck is a medieval town that’s earned a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and rightly so! During WWII the old part of town was heavily bombed but it has been carefully rebuilt to the charming place it was then and has now. Because it’s off the beaten track for tourists you can get some cheap but quality accommodations and some awesome meals and a very affordable price. While here be sure to take in the Puppet Theater called the Marionettentheater. It’s fabulous!
Germany is an amazing country rich is culture and character. It’s a place of great struggles, high sophistication, and friendly people. So when you’re planning that next trip consider a trip to Germany!
