The Popularity of The Matrix

Movie goers in the United States were treated to an exciting and action packed film on March 31, 1999. The film was a popular action packed science fiction film. The movie is known as the Matrix.

In the United States the Matrix was an instant success. Despite what many individuals and critics assumed The Matrix was one of the most popular movies of the year. Although The Matrix was released a number of years ago it is still available for purchase or for rent on VHS or DVD.

There are a number of reasons why The Matrix was so popular among movie goers. Perhaps it was because there really wasn’t a movie similar to it that was previously released. Yes it is true that there were a number of action packed science fiction films that were previously released, but there was something different about this movie.

When the movie was released the main star was a fairly popular actor. Keanu Reeves had the lead role in the movie and there is no doubt that his fan following helped in the success of the movie. There are many individuals who go to watch a movie, regardless of the movie genre, just to see their favorite actress or actor. It is quite possible that Keanu Reeves and his costars helped the increase the popularity of the movie.

The special and visual effects seen in the movies today are absolutely amazing. It is just astonishing to imagine how a movie can incorporate these features. At the time that The Matrix was released visual effects were a fairly new thing. Special and visual effects had been done before, but movie watchers were just amazed at how well done the special and visual effects in The Matrix movie were.

Many individuals who watched The Matrix will reference one of their favorite visual effects as the bullet time scene. This movie scene was a combination of orbital camera angles and slow motion. The bullet time scene was created using slow motion video imagery, rotating cameras, and time slice photography. The overall result was that the character ended up in an amazing position trying to escape flying bullets that literally seemed like they were at walking speed.

Although the bullet scene is the most noted visual effect scene in The Matrix there are a number of other great scenes. These scenes were significantly impacted by special and visual effects. There are many movie goers who realize that visual effects are a part of a great movie while others are left wondering for hours how a particular scene was shot.

As previously stated The Matrix was released in 1999; however, the movie is still popular today. There were two other Matrix movies that were released to create The Matrix series. These films are known as The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
