Men like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao led their followers away from God and into the most evil situations the world has ever seen. Communism, which sought to replace man’s dependence on God with a Utopian State, led its followers to murder or kill over 50 million people in the last century. Today’s passage from Jeremiah reminds us that Israel, too, suffered consequences for following deceivers. God said, “they love to wander.”...
