This film like the others in the Bourne series was wall to wall action. This Paul Greengrass directed film is a fitting end to a great movie trilogy. You can’t take a moment to relax, with peril and danger at every turn. Although Bourne is a trained assassin you grow to like him. This film is about the answers to many of the questions about Bourne’s past left unanswered in the previous films.
The film begins with an injured Jason Bourne reading an article about him from the Guardian newspaper. In true Bourne style, he seeks out the author of the article to discover his source and learn more about his past. The film focuses on a top secret project known as Blackbriar which the article threatens to expose. The CIA agents involved headed by Noah Vosen embark on a mission to kill Jason Bourne and anyone else it needs to. As in the other films some of the best action is when Bourne has to take on the “assets” sent to kill him, and those who have chosen to help him. Bourne receives aid from two people who were formerly trying to kill him; these are Nicky Parsons and Pamela Landy.
Like the other films Bourne travels the world in search of answers taking him to New York, London, Tangier and many others. The difference with this film is that Bourne does actually find answers! Moreover, despite the emergence of the Blackbriar project and large amount of travelling, the plot is much easier to follow in spite of the numerous flashbacks which arguably make this film better than the others.
Matt Damon is brilliant again as a controlled man with the potential to be lethal! Like the other films there are fantastic fight scenes between Bourne and “assets” with possibly the best and most brutal hand to hand fight of the series between Bourne and Desh. Like the other films Bourne is able to shake off any injury, use his imagination and prevail over evil.
This was a great film and I would definitely recommend going to see it from a boy’s perspective.
