Visit The Worlds Largest Dinosaur In Drumheller Alberta

Almost all of us are fascinated with the dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago. So how would you feel if you could see the world’s largest dinosaur on your next vacation? Why not visit Drumheller Alberta home to the world’s largest dinosaur?

Drumheller has earned the title of “Dinosaur Capital of the World,” and rightfully so for Drumheller is located in the Alberta Badlands where many prime dinosaur species have been found. And in Drumheller you’ll find the largest dinosaur in the world!

The 86 foot tall Tyrannosaurus Rex overlooks Drumheller and the surrounding Badlands. It’s Drumheller’s newest resident and most impressive and needless to say it’s attracting visitors from around the world.

You can even take a trip through the center of the dinosaur and examine all kinds of fossil remains and learn all kinds of dinosaur facts. When you reach the top you’ll have the most impressive view ever of the Badlands. A view you’ll not soon forget!

The idea for this project originated from a group of local businessmen. After all Drumheller and the Badlands are right smack in the center of dinosaur country.

Many millions of years ago dinosaurs roamed the world and the Badlands were a lush diverse area of the planet home to many different dinosaur species like the Albertosaurus and the T-Rex.

What’s been left behind are many many fossils, the first being discovered back in the later 1800s. Today the Badlands are recognized by Paleontologists as the most prolific place for dinosaur fossil in the entire world.

And while you’re in the area don’t forget to check out the Hoodoos another spectacular natural structure that was formed by millions of years of erosion. The erosion will continue so one day there will be no more Hoodoos so be sure to see them while you can.

Drumheller is also home to the infamous Royal Tyrrell Museum where paleontologists and tourists come together. This is a working museum where paleontologists work on excavations and removing of fossils as well as reconstruction of entire dinosaurs.

And it’s a learning center for visitors. A fascinating learning center which you just won’t want to leave. Here you’ll walk with the dinosaurs form a million years ago. Complete dinosaur reconstructions from fossil remains, interactive exhibits, and you can even get to meet the people behind the science. It’s a fascinating place!

Spend some time viewing the preparation lab where all the work goes on including research and preparation. Meat some of the smallest and tallest Theropods, discover the creatures that lived underwater more than 350 million years ago, visit the cretaceous garden where you’ll find living exhibits of the plants dinosaurs ate millions of years ago. Then take a trip back to the ice age and trace the evolution of mammals.

There’s so much to see and do at the Museum that you just might not want to leave. But while in Drumheller be sure to spend some time exploring the Badlands yourself. It’s an incredible journey and with just a few tools you might even find your own fossil.

There’s plenty of accommodations in the area, and there’s a terrific RV campground which also welcomes tents so why not stay awhile. This truly is a once in a lifetime experience!

Visit the world’s largest dinosaur and travel back in time millions of year to a planet nothing like the one we know now. Don’t miss it!
