Where Would We Be Without Motors

By definition a motor is a machine that produces motion or power for doing work. But there are many different type of motors in use today. You will find some type for motor in your every day life that makes things easier for you. So where would we be without motors?

From the time you step out of bed in the morning until you go to sleep at night you will have interactions with various types of motors. The first thing you will use is the water in the your washroom. With out a water pump at the pumping station you would have no water Even the flushing of the toilet could not be possible with out pumps to move the waste material to the processing plant.

Think about it. Sorry no motor is available for your toilet. Where will you be? Well you’ll be in the back yard in that out house chatting with your neighbor over the fence well he utilizes his out house. Now how important is that motor?

Then you jump into your car but whoops there’s no motor so where do you think you are going? Not too far unless you plan to use the power of your feet. The power windows, power antenna , power seats, are all run by motors. Have you ever had one of those little motors dye. You quickly realize you cannot role your window up in the middle of that rain storm.

No motors, means no electricity. Are you ready to go back to candles and oil burning lamps. How tough that would be in today’s world with our monster houses. You really must give our ancestors credit for what they endured.

No motors means no coffee in the morning or toast, no shower and no car. Would you even bother to get out of bed? Wait, you may not even have a bed, at least not a bed of today’s design. The material that you sleep on is woven by electric motors. Oops no bed frame either because a motor helped in the manufacturing of that as well.

What are you planning to eat? Unlike third world countries of today or our ancestors of the past who used manual tools to reap their crops, these days crops are harvested with equipment. Life could get pretty difficult if there was no motors to run the equipment to harvest the food you eat.

With out motors of some type would we have anything? TV is gone. No satellites as a motor places it to space, no cellular phones as motorized equipment place the satellites out in space, even the modern telephone is history as there is no power.

There is not any object that we have that a motor did not help to run or to produce the objects that we use every day. The clothes on your back are made with motors that run the machines that make the clothing.

We are very lucky in our modern world. Can you imagine a world with out motors? Their we are running around like our ancestors once did with only the skin on our bodies and scavenging for food with the wild beasts of the forest.

Flashback to the dark ages where you have to survive with only you skills. If you have poor eyesight you are in a world of hurt because you won’t be able to get glasses. What will you eat and where will you sleep? It is a really good thing motors were invented for without them we would be lost in the world of the past.

So you see the invention of the simple motor has helped to advance society to what it has become today. So the next time you use appliance, take a drive, or get dressed think about what make it all work, and be thankful some genius invented the motor.
